THE CORAL COLLECTION: THE ANNIE BIKINI

A great swimsuit deserves an inspiring name. For our Coral Collection we wanted to honour four empowering women from history who have blazed a trail and continue to influence how we live today. Meet Annie.

THE TRAIL BLAZER

Referred to as 'the census of the sky', Annie Jump Cannon was a pioneering astronomer who developed the Harvard Spectral System; a method of classifying stars that is still used today. Born in 1863 in Delaware, Annie's childhood passion for astronomy took her to the Harvard College Observatory where she, along with her fellow female colleagues, worked as low paid assistants for male professors. Triumphing over industry sexism, Annie become the first woman to ever receive an honorary degree from Oxford University. She was also a dedicated member of the National Woman's Party and throughout her lifetime advocated for women's rights. In 1923, she was voted one of the 12 greatest living women in America by the National League of Women Voters.

THE SWIMSUIT

Comfort meets sophistication with the Annie two-piece. The one-shoulder bandeau top features our signature double strap – as seen on the Kumanomi top – to offer stylish support and hold whether lounging by the pool or enjoying the waves. High waisted briefs offer midriff coverage and create a timeless, retro aesthetic.

THE LOOK

Consider this your day-to-night swim set. Layer a linen shirt over the top for beach days, then add a long skirt for the evening. Switch up the look by pairing the Annie bandeau with any Kōraru briefs.
